Here's the post on IWX Motor Freight. OK @Jaguar115 - found your post I was referring to...lol
Even the trainee pay looks good and quite a jump in pay when the trainee schedule is complete.

IWX in Springfield Mo is the best kept secret in trucking. ( I had never heard of them ) 70 Cents a mile (solo), requires tanker and hazmat endorsement. I was at their terminal today signing up for orientation, (2 days). I spoke with a few drivers getting service, they showed me their settlements, they are averaging 2900-3500 miles a week. I am going on their Southeast "regional" division. Out 2 weeks, home 2 days.

This is the trainee pay....i.e. while out with a trainer

They also offer REFRESHER courses for those of us that has been out of the game for awhile. That would include me, I have to drive to Kingman Az and back before they turn me loose. I'm good with that, I want to learn the automatic transmissions etc.

    Is that good, you ask?....

Given the current CDL job market for rookies -- I would suggest that a bird in the hand right now is worth at least several dozen in the bush.

That's especially true if you got that offer from Swift without any CDL endorsements (tanker, hazmat...or doubles/triples).

Why a weekly commute to KC?
You are assigned to one truck. Do you plan to bobtail home and back every week? There is usually a 90 mile limit to bobtail home.

If you are regional there is no need to go home weekly, especially if you have no family to worry about.
That will also cut your paychecks by a lot.

thanks for the sage advice, I guess I'm hoping for a local cdl gig now. I do own my own home, but I guess I should just stay local or go over the road. I kept saying to myself during CDL school, "I don't have to decide yet," but now I am nearing the point where I must make a decision.

####, I didn't know it was so tough for rookie drivers, I actually got the tanker endorsement just for the fun of it.

Even refrigerated trucking companies sometimes haul hazmat/tanker loads. The nasty stuff goes to specialized companies, but the other stuff, such as paint, any company can haul if the driver has hazmat/tanker endorsement.
