Had a minor accident in personal vehicle yesterday. How bad is this for getting hired?

Not so fast! If there is any kind of a claim paid the accident WILL be added to the CLUE database. If they find the paid claim and you have not addressed the accident? It could get ugly!

 

Are you an owner operator? If not, why would you report it to insurance?

list, but i must have had deleted it as this question about insurance had not come up in a long time.

now...its BACK in my favorites list, for future references.

 

I just went through this a while back when we got Keri's new car. Both of us were at the insurance office. Keri was doing the talking and I was doing the paying! The agent was on the phone and within minutes was asking Keri about a claim she was part of back when she was a teenager. Popped right up on the screen. I have been told that the CLUE database is connected to the insurance computers and all you have to do is enter someone's name and a few other items and the full report will come down automatically. I have not been able to confirm this, but I have been told more than once some carriers can run CLUE searches during orientations.

 

and frankly, i cannot see anything wrong with running such a check on potential new employee's

when here on this very site mind you, we read far too many times of those with incredible terrible driving records.

i think it should be done 1000% of the time, for the cost of doing so, far out weighs, hiring a callous, careless, negligent, wreckless driver.

might go a long way to getting PROFESSIONALS behind the steering wheel.

 

This is odd, I agree. But 2 times in my life with 2 different Insurance companies. I recived a ticket for accident. I was found guilty in court.

Both times the separate insurance companies found me not at fault and did not penalize me. They even had a clause to represent me civilly of it was pursued.

Insurance companies do not dictate fault from court proceedings. They conduct thier own investigation.

But hit a deer with a 6 month old Silverado on your way home in NW Ohio. State farm surcharge me for 24 months more than the claim was. State farm is not the greatest Insurance btw.

If you have a wreck or ticket. Do your best not to change Insurance or Jobs for 12-24 months. Unless you have to.

 

I am genuinely interested in why you were distracted by someone yelling at you in a parking lot? Were they warning you that you about to run over a mother and her stroller? You were about to run over a pole? A taco truck dude was hollering about free burritos? It matters.

 

I think the person driving that white pickup got a bit distracted!

 

Unfortunately, sideswipe incidents are considered serious, so things are going to be pretty difficult. Probably going to need a 2nd chance company. Or, maintain CDL, stay employed at the same place for 2 years, then try applying at places. The good thing about a simple (even if serious incident) is that time cures it, meaning eventually companies don't care about it. You just can't have anymore incidents.
