Had a minor accident in personal vehicle yesterday. How bad is this for getting hired?

Once a claim is paid by an insurance company, there is a record of that accident generated. I know people that will pay for things like a windshield etc, just to keep it away from the insurance company.

Yeah this is true but insurance claims are not employment related issues unless there is a need for it to be included. I never look at insurance of an applicant, my insurance and underwriters won’t either. It matters when a police report is made or it ends up in court where there is a public record created for the incident.

The problem is CLUE is something that almost all insurance carriers have available to them. If you are sending information about a new hire to your insurance carrier when someone at that company sits at a computer the paid claims information WILL show up. Now let's take a step back and take a long deep breath. CLUE is something that is 99% routine. EVEN for non-trucking situations. I know the couple that was leasing this apartment before me had 2 claims paid. One was because of an accident that was the wife's fault and then there was a claim paid to them based on a loss at his business. I know this because my insurance agent told me this when I started my renter's insurance along with some other things. CLUE got a hit on my address. I had to show that agent my lease agreement and actually give him a copy of the first page because of this. Insurance carriers will make a quote, but that quote is subject to change. This can be because of something they found like CLUE.

Because of this, I advise ANYBODY that knows an insurance claim was paid for them to understand there is a record of that claim paid and why somewhere on a computer system. Then act accordingly when filling out applications for jobs etc. As I stated, CLUE is routine, these checks are part of the process. While I agree with Ridgeline that generally they SHOULD NOT be part of the employment process, there is no guarantee this information won't find its way into it.
