I forget where it is but there is a multi-level mall in downtown Chicago. I went there when I was a newby which didn't help. Right at the entrance you are at a T-stop where you have to turn right with an immediate left into the entrance. Right where you turn is an overhead walkway which you have about 1" clearance. Don't hit the curb whatever you do!
Anyways you go underneath it and halfway through it is railroad tracks. As soon as you are across them there the docks are at a 45 but pointing the wrong way. No where to turn around with all the pillars so you can line up. Okay them tracks can't be used much being they go under a building. I'll use the tracks to turn around.I backed on the tracks to do a 3pt turn and Honnnnnnnnnnkkk Honnnnnnnnnkk!!
I looked in my mirror and here comes a train around the corner. I could see the conductor laughing as I got out of the way. All I can say whoever put them docks there was not semi knowledgeable. I'd say they were built for straight trucks.
There was another straight truck dock I had to hit in Cincinatti that sticks in my mind. This store was closing and selling their suits to Burlington. The sidewalk wasn't 30' from the dock with tight retaining walls on both sides. Across the narrow street was a bar. I wiggled in there meanwhile the bar patrons came outside to watch and cheer me on.It was kind of funny. My nose stretched all the way across the street and I had to use the other sidewalk and miss the bar by inches.

One of husband's worst was at Luray, VA, at the Wragler place, with a volvo condo with no powersteering and a 3" foot drop off into the neighbors yard. The yard dog just sat there watching. The place was built when there were 48 footers or less.
Definately the caves were fun too; places that the normal person doesn't even know exist. -
Sorry I didn't get back to your pm. My phone has been acting up and with a 1 year old and. 7 week old life has been crazy for me. How did orientation go? Did you get a start time yet? -
I agree with Ralph's. It must of been a slow day my first time there with only a few trucks and none of them close enough in doors to cause a headache. It didn't mind a return trip a few weeks later.
cant say the same the last couple times.
If you got someone in the dock to your left, it's just best to get him to drop his trailer and BT out of the way. Then, once I'm in my door, I put my landing gear down and disconnect my lines just in case the guy to the right of me needs to leave or back in.DirtyBob Thanks this. -
Precor in Woodinville Washington. One dock you have back into the lot through a 90 degree turn because if you pull straight in you'll be stuck. Then another building has a dock with a fence 55 feet in front of it. So you have to 90 degree park it while avoiding the dumpster and empty pallets they had to stack in your way. Terrible place that I would only wish my worst enemy to go it.

Sears store in Silver Springs, MD. You have to straight line back down a ramp in the middle of the parking lot, blindside a 90 degree turn to get into the basement of the store, then do a 90 degree sight side into the loading dock. Once inside, they had freight stored everywhere that you had to try and avoid. It couldn't be done with a 53 foot trailer, and the store required the loads be shipped in a 48.

Pentagon Mall, Arlington,VA. 48' and a sleeper and still a SOB to back into the docks. Blind side and inches from a pole. That was the hardest dock that I had to hit. Now, you want to talk about deliveries without docks that I had to make well pulling a 48' with a sleeper, I could write a book, lol.

No didn't go to orientation, I was looking forward to it, but then they called me up and said I can't be hired because i
Have 2 incidents on my dac. Report, however 1 incident is a lie from Werner. So anyways, they said they can't hire me
That was 2 days after they said they could, so I'm gonna go with blue rhino, hauling propane tanks, its class A. Ne w England motor freight also has an opening for me for line haul.
