Anyone been to caves around KC. I pulled into a new one I enter no docks. "Must be around the corner" I say to meself. Not so, well I guess docks are around the next corner, I barley make it around very tight. Guess what no docks! just straight path only enough room for one truck to squeeze through and I look ahead It's not opened up, solid limestone wall. I figure I'll have to stay here until they complete construction. I get out of the truck and walk outside same way I came in, I sit down on a rock and try to figure out , how I'm going to get out of this fine mess I got myself into.

There was this place in Philadelphia that I delivered to when I was at Stevens, not sure the name, but it was an old building and they had a picture from 1910 on the wall when they opened with the original guys on the dock and it was the same #### dock, lol!

Another one I had fun with was in Staten Island. Some guy bought two lots in a residential neighborhood and turned it into a meat market. Only room for one truck in the dock area, anyone else had to wait on the street. Just enough room to turn around in the yard but if it had rained, it was a muddy mess.

I guess he had "connections" to pull that off. I can't see most city codes departments allowing a business to open up like that.

Years ago, one of our drivers (now retired) told me about that guy. He said he would yell "DRIVER, WATCH ME, NOT THE MIRRORS!"

Reminds of a place in Elisabeth, NJ. Some sort of snack food place not too far south of the Anheuser Busch plant. You had to drive into the building between 2 yellow poles and the inside one was very scarred. Then when you got inside all the docks were blindside and they would ground guide you into the dock. I realized right away that were was no point in looking at my mirrors and that I had to trust the guy. Once I did that, it was pretty straight forward.

Some bakery in Indianapolis.I had a 1a.m. appt. There's 3 docks, and of course I have the one in the middle, with trucks parked in both of the others, lights off and drivers in their sleepers.I had to blindside in(did I mention that no outside lights were on?).I got out and looked about 30 times and it took me 30 minutes to get it in there. As soon as I bumped the dock, someone turned on all the outside lights and you could see perfectly.

been to those caves many times.Docks are so tight that if 2 are parked side by side, only way you can get out is wait for the other one to get unloaded and out first.Plus you really have watch menuvering around there otherwise you're going to hit a barrier. If you see a trk coming you have to wait till he goes thru. Those caves are not someone with claustophobic.Another driver from my company at the time refused to take loads in any of those caves. So I got elected.
