What are you referring to as 'overtime'??? If you are running a logbook, there is no such thing as 'overtime' in trucking!! You are allowed to drive 11hrs, take a 10hr break, drive 11hrs, until you use up your 70hrs, then you have a mandatory 34hr break.

Look up Windsmith's posts he has it all laid out how he is gonna make over 50k his first year. If you go the route were you are with a trainer for 3-6 weeks and then out on your own for the remainder of that first year it is doubtfull you would make 50k that first year.

well 50k is good, but 6 figures is better.. So i take it that some people are not forthright on here. and just make up figures especially in flatbedding.. then theres tanker.. the two top moneymakers i believe

Come on , you have to realize that NO ONE makes 6 figures as a newbie in trucking regardless of what the are pulling.

    *Flatbedding
    *Reefers
    *Car hauler
    *Expidited
    *LTL
*Mail Parcels -- Fed Ex, UPS
    *US Mail -- Contracted

Pretty much sums it up in order. As a student, your best options are flatbed and refrigerated. As you gain more experience you want to look into LTL, expidited, and car hauling. With a few years under your belt, look into Mail contractors or mail parcels. Mail contractors don't make the best money in the industry, but it's the easiest 'work' you'll ever do.

Don't ever expect to make 6 figures as a student. It's not going to happen regardless of what you're pulling. No one in the industry pays top dollar for student drivers. It took me over 20 years to clear 60k a year and be home every night plus weekends.
