Hello, Im about to go to school in little rock, Arkansas and im signing up with USA. Is this a mistake? Just got the last minute gitters and worried I might be making a mistake. Although I cant pay for my school really this is my only option. Thanks for any input.
Take it for what it is and make the best of it. If you do good, then awesome. You want starve to death here, but it can honestly be better, and worse. I just thought the part where they said they work hard to keep drivers happy, and that we're not just a number here. Same everywhere you go, someone is paid big money to market their business and make an appealing website. But everyone makes those sites so you can take it with a grain of salt.
I think you will do just fine. I have been with USA truck for a few years and truthfully I can say it's not that bad a company. There are a lot of things changing here right now and it's all supposed to be for the better. The drivers who get on here and say negative things are probably the same drivers who want to be home every other week and wonder why they dont make any money. The trucks are tolerable and the pay, in my case, is pretty decent. Every trucking company is basically the same, the only thing that changes is the color of the truck. Just don't base your opinion on something someone says, find out for yourself. You might find your experience is much different from what they said. You get out of it what you put into it. Just remember, BE PATIENT. This is a stressful career. And your just another driver. If you want to be treated like a God, this is not the career for you.
You'll notice from my address that I now live in Van Buren. If this was such a bad company to work for, why would I uproot my family and leave my hometown if this was such a horrible company to work for?
Where in this thread have you seen someone say that this is a horrible company to work for? But with that being said, after my year is up, I'll be saying bye bye to USA Truck after getting hired onto another company.
I asked in another thread how long you've been here. Should have read this first. It nice to see a point of view from a more seasoned employee. Your right, its what you make it, like everything else.
I just wanted to add I have already spoken to 2 recruiters from other companies. Both told me that if all my answers to their questions was accurate and honest I would have no problem getting hired. One company won't accept my application till I have a year, the other one will now with 6 months. I can't change jobs right now for 2 reasons 1 I made a promise to work for USA a year and 2nd I don't have the money to pay my school tuition. However I understand several companies will take over my C1 contract (not verified just truckstop gossip). My promise to USA for that year is something I might be forced to reexamine if USA keeps screwing me over about miles. I have to make a living, my check this week is for a bit under $300 and that is not counting deductions. I doubt it will be $150 after those deductions.
