Have CDL for 20 years but no experience.

I got my class A as soon as I turned 21. Drove an oil tanker for 5 years but it was a basic 5 speed syncronized trans .Then got into something else. So other than tank surge I really have no experience. I really don't want to pay $4000 to go back to school for something I already have. So what are my options? Are there companies that will train without making me go back through school? We all know that schools only teach you enough to get your license and not how to drive. I hope I don't have to waste my time and money again. Thanks

 

You might have to go back and at the least take some refreasher course. But I'd be checking with every company I could think of and ask them. Don't just send in an app. email would be best (for the record) at min. call them.

 

You could always lie worked once for a friend of mine should work for anyone he was always a few bricks short of a full load and he pulled it off

plus, he'll have to learn how to do logs. and operate a qualcomm or whatever.

don't matter if you've been driving or not. off the road 3 or more years. and you have to take a refresher.

i got lucky and found a company that would hire anyone with a cdl A. they also don't use qualcomms. but allowed the use of computer logs. to which i bought a program. that not many use. the rules changed since i was first on the road so the computer program helped me relearn logs.

 

Do like I did in a similar situation, find an owner/operator that is looking to train a codriver. Some companies will train you and assign a trainer, but finding an O/O might be a great solution to get experience under your belt.

 

Buy someones old logs and re write em for two years, and .....HA i dont know

 

We're you guys all drunk last night when you read this? Haha!!! I think I might stay away from the advice to lie. But I do like the advice about the o/o. Where did you find one at?
