Here we go again...Another shut down planned.

    I agree 100% that the shut down will NOT solve one i-oda.. none.. zilch.
    Even worse, A one days shut down will make even less difference than that.

    But I hope it happens. I hope every one who can, will.

    I'm with buddy on a lot of his points. None of the mega's, small companies & 99% of O/Os will never shut down. Not even a maybe.

    The only thing that is going to get attention is if at least 1/4 of the industry shuts down for days.. yes days. Enough days to get some serious attention. Don't go back until some agreement is on paper.

    The other thing is, no doubt this HAS to be planned, but just as trucking companies plan to shut down, so do shippers & receivers. One day????? The warehouses will just order an extra truck load of material/product at some point during the previous week & they're set. They wont miss one second of production or sales due to the ONE DAY shut down. If they know 4 months in advance that there will be a measly one day shut down, they will plan for it.
    But again, those companies will have already have had a conversation with their brokers & trucking companies they normally deal with to know if they plan a shut down. If they dont plan to shut down, who cares? If the trucking company they use aint going to shut down, they will still get their product. If they do shut down, they'll just order an extra days worth of product at some point during the week even if they have to rent warehouse space some where & rent a U-Haul to move it as needed that day.
    I can promise you, company planners aint gonna let one day interrupt their daily business when they know about it 4 months ahead of time.

    The only way this will work is for small trucking companies who are really willing to sacrifice for a better industry like our forefathers did back in 1776. You have to sacrifice if you want better things.
    So if small companies & O/Os will shut down April 12 until they have an agreement on paper, things will get better. I promise you, if that is the plan, it wont take but 3 or 4 days. A week at most. Period.
    Three thousand trucks shutting down for one day wont do anything but loose them a days pay & get them a 3 day weekend. Again, as I said initially, the plan they have in place wont change anything, but if they want to do this, I hope they do. At least someone is willing to make at least some sort of an effort.
    FWIW, April 12 is on Friday. Saturday morning April 13 will be business as usual.
    Aint shutting down on Friday awfully convenient???? Hey, let's do this on Friday so we will have a full 2 day weekend. Both Friday & Saturday! Yee Haw!
    I say y'all do this on Wednesday... middle of the week.

    If I'm going to sacrifice for something as important as our forefathers did, I want a better hashtag than blacksmoke matters. Good God. How embarrassing. No shutting down highways either. These are the same clowns who made fools of themselves last year.
    I do agree on the premise of your well thought out and written post however.

    Whoopie I say. Big deal.

    They have been screaming shutdown for decades in one fringe topic or another. Herding cats. Never gets anywhere much.

    It does make for a local problem or a show here and there but the Nation rolls millions of big rigs and you aint shutting them all down. Our way of life depends too much on them.

    They had the same thing back in October 4. Sounds like they are at it again. I give them credit for trying but they did not change any laws last time.

    Funny thing, I saw a flyer in the men's restroom at some truck stopabout this, then later the same day saw a article about it pop up on my news feed..

    Claims there is 4 thousand members of the group but I think you'd need 50 trucks blocking the capitol building about the time those ######## in Congress get off work to get them to notice..

    Great. Is there an email list? I just shut down from last Friday til today. Hope it made a difference.

    And black smoke doesn't matter as much as white smoke (injector, bad head gasket,etc)
