While parked with nothing in particular to do. Doing something still counts as on duty. Posting on the interbutt while using my driver's seat as a chaise lounger does not.

:biggrin_25514::biggrin_25514: Great post. I just ran that same math this very week. The guy that explained it to me knew what he was saying but my ears was not picking up the signal. I pre plotted it out on my Eclipse software and nothing came up red. "The light bulb came on". An hour on duty, drive for 5.5, take a 2 hour break off duty, drive for 5.5, take an 8 hour nap, get up and drive for 5.5, take a two hour break off duty, drive for 5.5, take an 8 hour nap and on and on. When you plot this on a e-log, it will show red in till you add that "2 Hour" off duty time and then everything gets pushed forward and turns green. I will print you .txt file to pass on to other drivers as I know I could not explain it as graceful as you have. Drive safe!

Oilfield has slight changes in HOS, same 11/14 except while on a well pad you can log wait time which pushes the end of your 14 back. Although they are pretty picky on what you can log wait time in, i.e it needs to be oilfield specific equipment that is required to do a specific job on the rig site, meaning sand haulers, water haulers, equipment haulers etc are not allowed to use wait time. Basically only cement crews, frac crews, wireline crews etc are allowed to log wait time. Least thats how PENNDOT explained it to us at Halliburton and told us that was how they were interpreting it. Oh and oilfield doesnt need a 34hr reset, only a 24.

    60/70-Hour On-Duty Limit
May not drive after 60/70 hours on duty in 7/8 consecutive days. A driver may restart a 7/8 consecutive day period after taking 34 or more consecutive hours off duty.

SO IN THE OLD DAYS YOU DROVE 8 DAY WEEK 70 HOURS THE FIRST 10 HOURS DROPPED OFF AND YOU ALWAYS HAD 10 HOURS TO DRIVE THE NEXT DAY , NOW ITS SOUNDING LIKE YOU HAVE TO TAKE 34 HOURS OFF AFTER 70 HOURS DRIVING. THIS IS CONFUSING.

I AM DRIVING A ROCK TRUCK IN SAN DIEGO COUNTY , YO YO,ING BACK AND FORTH FROM CONSTRUCTION SITE TO A DUMP SITE AND THEN GOING TO DUMP CONCRETE/ AC RECYCLE AND BRING BACK SAND. DO I HAVE TO RUN A LOG BOOK IN CALIF DOING THIS?
