I was wondering if anyone on here is outta Houston as a regional tanker driver? I talked to a recruiter the other day and he said I'm out 5 days and home 2. Said I could make over 60 grand a year? Is that true? I've always been told it's hard to get miles when you only go out for 5 days at a time. Thanks.

from my experience even though it's been quite a while since I was with Schneider bulk I was out of the houston facility and the $60,000 a year really is not that much of a stretch and being out of Houston you will see used in quite a bit but at the same time you will make pretty decent money

that sounds like a good deal for a new guy even if you only make 45k.

Look at it this way. If you were OTR, you'll probably be lucky to get 2500 miles per week. That's an avg of 360 miles per day, which equates to a lot of unpaid sitting around in truck stops or terminals.

With the 5/2, when you're sitting, you'll most likely be sitting at home,, showering in your own shower,,, sleeping in your bed. And when I was with Schneider bulk, I never had problems getting a load out of Houston ,, Houston has lots of liquid that needs to be moved.
