If they get to close to me they get an accidental elbow and i say excuuuse me.. that usually works,, unless i have to step on their toes as i leave, and im 6'1'' 260 pounds, with size 12 feet,, so it might hurt to have me step on them lol.
I hate this also... Especially when you are trying to leave the counter and you can't because you are blocked in. Or when you are trying to move around someone and you say Excuse me and they either don't hear you or they just ignore you. Granted I am not a loud talker so when I have to raise my voice a little, it probably sounds like I have an attitude. Which in this case I do because you are in my way!! LOL
When I was real young I had this friend who could fake a sneeze like a pro. I'll bet that coupled with some effusive wiping motions would get the offenders to back off a lot! If not, turn around extending a hand, and say, "HI! My name's ___________ - how ya doin'?"
Yes, I hate this also. Don't like anyone invading my "personal space" This happens in the grocery store as well. I don't have any helpful suggestions, but want to say one thing to all the people, who are being crowded: Congratulations on your personal hygiene Obviously you are not offensive to anyone or they would keep their distance. Sorry, I just had to bring this up. I have a feeling, that some of the people discussed on these boards, don't suffer from anyone hovering over them. So does this mean there is a bright side to this ??? LOL
If you just turn around and look at them most of the time they will get the point and stop eye balling.
Yes it can be anoying but think about how small the frickin truck stops are getting, they got crap all over the place trying to sell you somthing, you cant even walk in some of the truck stops. and What gets me the most is im working paying for my fuel, trying to get a shower and in front of me is a family or what ever buying ice cream at the fuel desk Loves pilot ta flying j dont giving a flying hoot about us so called PROFESSIONAL DRIVERS they only care about themselves.. They NOW even call truck stops TRAVEL CENTERS so it not too scare the public ,,, I wish i had the money i would open a place and have a sign saying trucks only no cars allowed, no vacationers allowed. I wish.
Different cultures have different ideas of what personal space is. I have a son that lives in Vancouver BC. There are a few hundred thousand Chinese immigrants that have moved there. They have no concept of personal space and not only will they crowd up to within a half an inch of you they will cut right in front of you as you are waiting in line. This son of mine is a firecracker type of person at the best of times and when they crowd in on him it's like they got hit by a twister of the 5th magnitude. I have seen him chase a person right out the door yelling at them that we don't do things like that in our country and if they can't learn the culture,go back to where ever you came from in the first place. Now I don't condone his behaviour but I'd bet that person will think twice before sticking his nose in another big white guy's ear. For myself I just step on their toes while giving them the old NHL elbow in the ribs as I step back. Works good.
