How bad is MY traffic? Well, lets see,............... I commute betwixt Los Angeles -- Santa Ana, California and Riverside -- San Bernardino, California. LA -- SA is number 1 Riv -- SB is number 13 SOMEtimes, and too often, it takes 30 minutes just to get ON the "free"way. Average speed for the next several miles is around 7 mph. And the traffic is ALWAYS predictably UNpredictable. Around here, they call it "Get Away Fridays". On Fridays, folks are headed to Lost Wages, and I-15 starts to clog up right around where SH 91, Hwy 60 and I-10 transition. Especially around I-10 where the 4-wheelers take on the Big trucks around the two truckstops located at I-15 and I-10. In Ontario, Fontana, Calif. areas. That traffic continues up the Cajon Pass, north, and starts to clear up around Hwy 395. If it's a four day weekend, add clogged feeder roads through the cities along the way too. It isn't a pretty picture. Welcome to the Land O' Fruits & Nutz. I'm the latter. Nutz. How the "local" Big truck drivers get 'er done on a daily basis is beyond me. I washed out driving "local" within 18 months. But on the plus side, I found a better gig. Had I been satisfied driving local, I never would have done that. And, thanx to the rail trailers I was dispatched to pick up and return from and to the rail yards, --- I honed my backing skills.:smt004 Every cloud has a silver lining, ...... or so I hear.
I definitely don't miss driving in Atlanta. Way too many vehicles on the road and they all drive like they are NASCAR fans. With my present job I see more livestock and wildlife than cars and I am a lot less stressed.
I live 1.2 miles from work. If I time it wrong and hit the morning traffic, it can take up to ten minutes to get there.
