So all of the several thousand trucks that go the "other" way are dodging the scales?

I figure if they didn't want trucks on a certain route you'd see a sign...if the road is open I run it... I've crossed, maybe, 5 scales in the last 100,000 miles.

    Kind of sad though.

Not many other business employers would DARE to have employees do anything for free.

Lots of business' try to get work done for free, the employees tell them to pound sand! Only STD's (stupid truck drivers) do #### for free.

I'm going to agree with "schools needing to teach weight distribution" cause u go to these thinking "hey I'm getting the real deal here"; sadly it's not the case, and like many other ppl have said on here "3 Weeks is not enough" I'm almost to the 3/4 mark on my yr and boy have I learned more than I expected. I had no idea truck driving had so much info! It's truly amazing how underrated this industry is. But I'm also gonna agree with the "it's ure responsibility once u sit behind the driving wheel" argument .... It's unfortunate that the OP got a ticket coming fresh out the gate tho, and I personally think that alot of new drivers .... How should I put it ... aren't lucky enough to learn this ... I for one am a very curious person, so when I first hear sliding tandems in school it opened my curiosity, and from then on I started asking everyone, my first week out me and my trainer got a taste of 'what happens when they load u wrong' ...but I guess, I was lucky to be in the right time sort of thing. Weight Distribution is an art to itself, there are the basic fundamentals, then u have some complex problems to it ... I remember the day I figured out that I could ease off weight on the steers even after the 5th wheel was all the way back ... I felt as if I had discovered electricity or something. Now I've been stuck here for 2 days, scratching my head trying to get it right ... But they loaded these darn paper rolls all the way up and I got no way of releasing the weight of my steers ... I should've known something was off when my steers we're 13700 on my 5th wheel sweet spot ... Back to the shipper ... Again!

How tight are you on the trailer?

One solution would be to get the trailer right at 34,000 if you haven't already.

Then see how things are sitting on the truck.

That is if you have sliding trailer tandems.

Really? I think I worry too much. How bad are DOT with this in Arkansas?

Yeah I got em sliding; the highest they ever got was 33140 and that was with my pin on the 1 hole (insert surprised look here) ... what some.other truckers at the flying j told me was that they loaded me too nose heavy, cause my steers went all over the place, from 14560 to 12520 which was the best I got it, some guys told me to take the risk but I rather not run illegal. This is my second time getting reloaded tho, hopefully they'll get it right cause if not I just spent the whole weekend here for nothing. I might start a thread called "Nightmare @ International Paper" : P

yeah but you need to make sure your weight rating on your steers is over 12000 cuz u could get a ticket for that too.....
