I'm 37 and funded my own cdl endeavor. Most all major carriers were willing to hire me and some said I needed 160 hr cdl course . I'm currently at USA truck with a trainer racking up miles . Good luck.

I heard that many times, but didn't find that to be the case. I applied to about 15 OTR companies and got 6 offers. Some turned me down because of my South FL address and others claimed it was lack of experience.

Now, if he is looking for a local gig paying $25 ph with full benefits and weekends off, then yeah he is going to struggle down there.

If you have a license you will find more jobs than you know what to do with. The problem is finding a company you like and can trust.

You can sign up for a Google Voice account and get a phone number. Then you can decide if calls to that number go to voice mail, or ring through to your other number

If you think Red Lobster is fun with that bar try weaving carefully as a concealed carry not to put a foot anywhere on that little perimeter around the bar to stay legal. That #### leather stuff creaks and all LEO know what it is when they hear it.

There is one in McCain in NLR to the east of US67 and it's one of the best. The Owner cut us a free premium meal when we finished a round of Chemo at the VA, about a hundred gone in '06. A very nice gesture for us in those difficult times.

Cool. That's something I was unaware of. You youngsters with all this new technology. I'll have to grab my abacus and do a cost comparison.

Long as you have no outstanding violations on your MVR you'll start receiving calls and emails that same day you fill out application.Listen to those ppl that recommend school. Many companies also have school. But of course there are strings attached.

I'd probably call the companies you want to drive for and ask if they hire from central FL. There are many small companies here but they rarely hire inexperienced drivers. One of the megas will probably hire you but you'll have to commute to their Atlanta terminal which can be logistical nightmare.

Why? The only problem I see for him is the distance to any (insert mega) terminal. Swift has a location in north central FL but I don't know if it's a terminal or just a drop yard.

Swift has a terminal in Ocala, that's where I would have gone for orientation if I went with them.
