I could ask both of them that question and it's still no guarantee that the gun would have saved them. Gun or no gun, if something is going to happen to you, it is. Not only that, who's to say more people wouldn't have gotten hurt in any situation? Those are just incidents of misfortune. Guns give people a false sense of security. People seem to think they can control everything in life and it's just not the case. The whole gun ownership for self defense is kind of a weak argument to me. The likelihood of one having to use it for self defense in their lives is pretty minimal. Most of the time, watching your surroundings will prevent these types of things, but in those rare examples you just mentioned, it's just wrong place wrong time. Also, if someone is coming at you, you ain't gonna have no time to find your weapon, aim, and fire. I am going to need you to exhibit a little street sense here.

My having a gun, may well not have saved me in either of those cases, but it sure would have insured that I was not the only one laying in the street when it was over.
Guns save innocent people each and every day, It just doesn't get reported on the big news a lot.

Guns also kill innocent people each and every day, but it's not always on the news. I would say that more people get killed than get saved

Whatever you need yo tell yourself. My constitutional right doesn't care about your opinion.

Thing is no one will ever know if Im carrying a firearm or not. But a firearm is tool for self protection. I dont need a pistol to give me any false sense of security, I know how to watch my surroundings, watch who's around and what they're doing.

If you dont want to give yourself every advantage to protect yourself in a bad situation, then thats on you.

Oh here we go. Guns kill people...

Cars also kill people too right? Not the person operating the vehicle.

If you feel that boost of protection, that's on you. I have no need for it. You see it one way. I see it another way. Have a nice one.

    The hell it is.

A firearm cannot do anything unless THE PERSON holding it pulls the trigger.

A vehicle cannot operate unless THE PERSON in the vehicle operates it.

Do you see the common factor in those sentences? Stop blaming the tool and start blaming THE PERSON responsible.

If I turned my semi into a giant rolling bomb and ran into a large group of people and detonated it. Not one single person would say a semi truck turned into a bomb was the cause of a bunch of people dying. But if I drove my truck into a large group of people then got out and started shooting those people, ignorant people like you would would automatically blame the gun.

You're so hung up on the wrong thing, you can't even see the real problem.

Gun, people with the gun, whatever dude. All is guns and people with guns are not people I associate with. It doesn't compare, because people get in cars thinking that they will use their motor vehicle for self defense. Who's ignorant now? People have guns because of self defense, which to me is translation for: "I am scared of everyone and everything," or " I cant whoop nobody's ###, so this is my only form of leverage."
