GasHauler, you always post something good to read. Your reply on here is very well said. Your professionalism towards safety is Superior. You haul fuel, and safety is priority 1. I support you thoughts on the Concealed carry,or having any kind of gun in a commercial vehicle. All of your words above are very good. Thanks

"Chest puffers" - love it. Those are the same guys who and in the Petro/TA/Flying J/Dennys and keep telling that same lame story about how the NYC cop told them to drive over the hoods of the cars that were illegally parked...

Yawn another tirade by those that spout the misconception a weapon is lethal or non-lethal. Never Heard of blunt force trauma sparky?

My side arm is no more lethal than my Ka-Bar, my boots, my lockblade......

Always make sure your doors are locked I forgot once in 1994 and woke up cold because my door was opened they only got 50.00 and my pants. I just left without reporting it (did not seem worth it) latter that day I heard on the radio that a driver got robbed and stabbed to death at the same truck stop. I had to pull over for I wile because if I had woke up that could have been me. I have been beating myself up for the last 17 years about not calling the Cops maybe that could have scared them away and saved his life. I don’t know if that would have helped but it still bothers me today.
    Double check your doors.

Forget some chintzy little keychain can of pepper spray, a miss or several perpetrators that will not be sufficient. To ensure you take out any and all attackers get a can or two of Bear Spray

That's the same stuff that Dog, the Bounty Hunter uses... all this chest thumping talk makes me laugh, having been on the other end of several chemical sprays.... people talk big, and use the stuff, until THEY end up getting some backlash from it... and then they're screaming like a little girl. Been there, it's not fun... and all this stuff in the movies where guys get sprayed and STILL fight, landing accurate punches, or firing a weapon... isn't happening - all you want to do is breathe, and you wish with all your might that your eyes would quit feeling like you got stung in the pupils by 118 hornets.

Although if you keeps your eyes open and wits about you--you should not have nay trouble--there many many single women drivers who do a fine job everyday--you know the things to avoid--you have been doing this all your adult live--so don't change know--if you are unsure of an area--or a little concerned--work with your company to schedual things closer to regular business hours--alot of companies try for very early morning appointments in bigger cities due to traffic--but if you are concerned at first--let them know you would (possibly)be more comfortable waiting until daylight--things change even in the bad area's by normal business hours--also check with company and other drivers--place you may feel might be unsafe(due to neighborhood etc)mat actually be well lit and secure--so communicate--other than that follow the instincts that have worked so far--if you feel there is a problem at a T/S(for instance)don't worry about barking up--stay inside--tell an employee-don't be afraid to say something to another driver--99%of us are hard working family people--I may be an ol b******d--but I have no problem walking back out to your truck with you in an area(T/S shipper whatever) if you are a little concerned--as for sleeping in truck--don't let it get to you--we all do it--just be aware of where you are--same rules apply--as any other situation--just try and plan your trips carefully--and ask questions--if you really are having a hard time adjusting to sleeping in truck--here is an old trick to make you feel more secure--get a tie die strap--ratcheting or pull type doesn't matter--and before you go to bed--run it between the drivers and passenger door handles--and pull it tight--that way if someone ere to try and break in the lock--the door still won't open--really isn't going to be an issue--but might give you the extra comfort (mentally0you are looking for until you get used to things.

If carrying a handgun is out of the question, a big D cell Mag Lite is a nice combination tool/weapon. If a handgun is an option, the choices are endless.
