Tell them via text. Then ghost them. Be sure to block their number also. It's like a cherry on top, just meaner. If you need further advice on quitting, I give you this song. Just repeat the chorus as you walk into inform them. Far as ghosting being the trend....People get tired of the ######## when it comes to leaving a job. Why subject yourself to ridicule, harassment, and other types of negativity. Personally, I'd use a text, in person, or a phone call, but I get why some folks do it. That whole right to work thing, works in the employee's favor at times to. Sure you could go in, give your reasons for leaving, etc etc etc. Know what they'll do as you walk out the door? Call in the next guy for a job opening. If they already got ####ty and unsafe equipment, then they've already told you what you need to know in regards to how they view you. Not like their going to yell "Stop! Please stay! We'll fix everything! Just for you! An triple your pay!". They may say it, but we all know chances of it actually happening are right around zero. I would never ghost a good company. A bad one that does stupid things? They deserve it. That said, I've never ghosted a job. I have given less then a hour's notice, but I didn't ghost them! Just quit; can do it by phone. Don't have to explain anything. " I quit; it's for personal reasons" or whatever you want to say. Get it over quickly, "I quit, goodby."
I'd just talk to them or call them if its after hours and just say: "hey thanks for the opportunity but I don't feel like I'm a good fit at this company."
Tell them in person and leave them a short note saying the same thing. Keep a copy of the note you leave them. Don't accuse them or condemn them or threaten to tell the authorities. "I see this is not the company for me. You have a right to run your company as you see fit. But I will not fit in here, so I am leaving, immediately." Name & Date
