I aim to drive 500-600 miles per day. I stop as much as I want. Usually take a 12hr break. I refuse to chase a clock.
I’ve learned even if your company tries to force you with appointment times and such there’s little ways to burn time and keep control of your schedule. So you may not get a 12 hr break but you won’t be starting 2hrs earlier every day.

with my current company I see my pick up and delivery WINDOWS for the entire week. So provided I’m not a horses rear the first two days of running sets the schedule for the rest of the week.

I just run the hours I have for the day. Take breaks when I want based on if I have the time or not. Rarely will I have more than exactly 10 hours though. If it’s a live unload, which is almost always, I’ll get to the destination city early and then laze around until my appointment. Rinse and repeat. I mostly do recaps, but once in awhile run my 70 out and am basically forced to to a 34.

Same with my father in law 76 in October. I don't even ask him why he works hard anymore. I wouldn't say hard he is just a driven person. My father was the same way until he went to his heavenly home strong at 88. My mom is 90 but the aging process has taken its toll on her. She was still getting it done until 82. My inspirations
Keep on trucking young man all the best to you on your ride

You would get fired from some trucking companies if you performed on the job that way.

Haven't heard that term in a while. Back in the day, some toothpicks could help a driver stay awake. Not sayin' anything else.
