Oops never mind I see what you were asking now. I can't comment then I don't track any of those things because I just decide in real time what works at any given moment.

@mattvogelpohl interesting, I think there are a lot of O/O the roll the way you do... May I ask, how do you know if things are going good or bad? My the money in your bank account?
When I started dispatching trucks I tried to do that, grab the best I could find. But I noticed that sometimes by the end of the month I didn't do well, so I started thinking that tracking some indicators or somehow understand what the best strategy was for me to make the most money was critical.
How do you see the strategy and profit generation?

    Mattflat362 Thanks this.

In my minds limited understanding over anything over 30 seconds from right now...I came to a place where I look at the year....and it has only been 4 solid as O/O....and they have been OK but I don't think about how much I MIGHT lose.

So many ruined days before you know the right questions to ask about a load! I guess you could say I have focused on that for sure.....which results in far less lost days/cheap TONU's/wasted time. Odd truck here so I have to KNOW it is going to fit and be legal.

    Something to think about ...

What bussiness are you in ?
If your in trucking and your business is to buy trucks then find loads for them you may find yourself in a not very proffitable position. If instead you find yourself in the business of helping your shipping clients get there products to there customers you may find a higher purpose then buying trucks then looking for loads to pay for those trucks.

    Mattflat362 and trucking.shine Thank this.

I agree. I have always viewed business as helping and reaping the rewards of that help.

I bet the number one reason new O/O's come and go is lack of a good close tech and a knack for mechanical stuff in general. These trucks are no joke man...

So what are numbers anyway? How many new entrants fail or disappear for whatever reason in the first 2 years? 4 years?

I think a big chunk of them are ones who do it with no clue what it actually takes to keep a truck on the road, have to admit it's kind of what I did but I paid cash for everything and don't own a house yet so I can afford to learn the hard way I guess.

I've been trying to look for this number and couldn't find anything @mattvogelpohl. But it would be interesting to see that statistic.
