Old and new, this is the internet with ALL kinds of folks contributing. Just think of it as being in a bar in a blue collar neighborhood after the second shift ends. Do you think you'll hear a little boasting/complaining/truth stretching/know it all personalities/loud mouths/serious, not so serious/argumentive/ type people? Just have fun with it, knowing that you control your life.

I may be wrong but when old posts are deleted doesn't that change the "thanked" numbers along with the number of posts made on a member's record?

Old...........I gotta tell you your system is flawed. I get thanked quite a bit when I do a big patriotic post or one about my Daddy. That would prejudice my ratio. LOL

Oh Nana, I'm so depressed. Here I thought I could give a little bit instead of just taking. I've been getting kicked in the butt all day over this thread. Woe is me - I can't even give right! What's to become of me. I got it! Maybe you could knight me - that'll show 'em!!!!!:biggrin_2553:

Ooooh, wait. I'm over it! Never mind...

    ONGB,

It is tough to know who to listen to on here. A lot of people who have great advice won't post it because the same questions about the same carriers get asked over and over again. I'm sure you've already seen this.

Also, the million milers and 20-45 year veterans can have a hard time giving advice to wannabes and newbies because things have changed so much since they started out. Heck, when I got my CDL, I just borrowed a truck and a driver from my job and went to the DOT testing station and got it. No school or nothing. Try doing that these days and see how long they laugh at you. I couldn't begin to give you good advice on starting out because it isn't even the same game anymore.

If you are looking for good advice to get started and haven't read through these two threads, you should do it...

PM ScooterDawg and ask him for a copy of the book that he wrote for newbies. He'll send it to you on a PDF file. I think it is a heck of a good resource because he writes about the lessons that he learned as he learned them. He doesn't have all of the answers, but it will give you a glimpse of what you are in for. Too many veterans have forgotten just how much we didn't know when we started out.

I've been following your questions on this forum and it seems like you really want to do this right and learn all that you can. That's great and that attitude will serve you well in your career. I hope this helps.

Thanks TonBundle. The Magnum thread is printing as I'm writing this, the LC thread is next. I've PMed ScooterDawg and asked for the book. Thanks for the direction and advice.

I had no idea my post would be so offensive. Don't worry I'll not offend you again.

The way I tell if I'm going to read a post is if I can make it past the first line without pulling out my "How to Speak Moron" book or have to get some one to translate the thing for me!

I also will pass by any thread that the poster just HAS to make the font so freaking small I have to hit Ctrl and + to make the screen print bigger! I also will skip any post that the poster just HAS to use red or other "bright" colors like little teeny boopers and their My Space pages!

Other than that I read most of what goes on in here except for threads with 300 pages started in 06! Now when the thread turns into an IM service I also drop out of it!

    JustSonny and cpassey Thank this.
