Hey Rookietrucker, No, my comment on supertruckers wasn't meant about you personally at all and sorry if it looked that way. My impartial statement was just me being my sarcastic self. No intent to offend or get personal. I will now use a code for my sarcastic remarks. If I type it...chances are I am being sarcastic. LOL
Swift is not bottom of the barrel by any means. I have worked for worse. But they are a training company, and I believe that's where a lot of the condescending attitude comes from. I can say that I never got that attitude from the staff who knew me. It seemed to be the bigwigs who were the most patronizing, and who implement all the micromanagement. And I'm sure all that just comes from the drivers acting like idiots- they started assuming we are all idiots and need our hands held. I have no intention of ever going back to Swift, but I do see them as a viable option for newbs and wannabes. I'd recommend Swift before I'd recommend Heath Oil who told me they'd pay me $15/hr then actually paid me $10/hr and played dumb when I questioned them about it. Or Erie Petroleum who refused to change a bad tire and paid some complicated percentage system which cheated drivers on a regular basis. Yeah, there are worse than Swift.
Everybody talk about the number of wrecks swift have, all the other training companies have large number of wrecks but y'all fail to notice them because u r 2 focus on swift. US express have about 7 wrecks since Monday I don't c y'all saying anything about them. I am not a swift rep I don't work for swift, I'm an o/o not a L/O but it amaze me to see how people focus on swift. That's y they are the largest trucking company because everybody talk about them and the more you mention swift the bigger it gets.
I was in shreeveport LA last weekend. A UPS truck pulling doubles goes flying by me and several other trucks. If you have driven thru there before, it's 50mph. He had to be doing 65-70, rear wagon weaving all over the place. You should have heard the chatter on the cb. My thought was, winter will be here soon. He will only do that once and hope he doesn't hurt anyone in the process.
That's where you guys are wrong. Those UPS and FedEx trucks you see in the median every winter are not wrecked trucks. They are highway decorations donated by those companies and placed there to break up the monotony of snowy MidWest freeways. Kinda like garden gnomes and plastic flamingos.
Which is why both companies have to lease trailers from us during their peak season...they are using their own as decorations!
Wal-Mart has more trucks. That's why you see one of their trucks upside down at each mile post......right.
Nope. Walmart Transportation has 6,400 power units, Swift has more than 16,000 power units. They're the big dog in the yard.
