How is North Dakota right now for those actually working up there?

Real easy to find a union job grossing $1500 per week with company paid benefits almost anywhere without being away from home. I'd need to double that to make it worth heading back to the patch.

And be home every night? I’m looking at home every night and preferably sat Sunday off, I had sun mon off when I was home hauling fuel, missed out on more of life than I do in the oilfield with my week off every month

I've only had to stay in a hotel once in the past two years if that tells you anything and I drive a day cab and sleep in my own bed every night.
For a young guy without kids in a family the oilfield s a perfect opportunity to learn the ropes and be in a position to get an even higher-paying job in the next boom.
For an older guy with a couple kids to take care of the margins are so small at the moment that it wouldn't justify sacrificing my benefits and maintaining two separate households.

I've never had experience in the oil field but am at a place in life where living in a camp for an extended period would not be much of an issue (already have the camper as well). Not sure that it would be for me, but I am curious. How does one go about exploring current opportunities?

Here's a creative place to make some contacts from the comfort of your own home without having to travel.

Probably a good idea to get 20 confirmed job offers from 20 different companies so that when you find out you're getting screwed over and strung along by the first guy you have 19 other people to call so you can work the next day.

All jobs will require H2S training and OSHA 10 training which can be done online from the comfort of your own home and I highly recommend you get that training at your own expense before you leave your home so that you can instantly start working the minute you arrive
