Well, that's going to HAVE to be figured out, unless we want starvation in the streets.

That's the master plan. If we are at home watching TV there will be less traffic on the roads getting in the way of the self driving trucks.

Where these trucks will be going, I have no clue. It won't be to replenish stores as we won't have money to buy anything in those stores anyway.

With the cost of the truck and the Companys that are jumping on board, Budweiser, Walmart. It may be sooner for local and short haul. Although a vehicle that can operate continuously has to be appealing to the remaining line haul operators

If it ever happens in our lifetime it will likely start in confined yards. Maybe have an automated jockey truck shuffling trailers around and backing them into docks. Nothing to hit but company property and inexpensive trailers.

People who are dating or married to each other also need their personal space, even if for only a shorter period of time.
Had I been able to pass a DOT physical, I would have gone into OTR trucking. I'm single, no kids, and live in an apartment, (NO roommates).
Outside of a trainer and mentor, I would positively want to be SOLO, and WITHOUT a driver facing camera, (although, I realize that this is NOT always possible).

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

The problem with automation is it still requires the human intervention. Driving a truck isnt like assembling a car. Roads to navigate, obstacles to get around, huumans do some weird stuff. For that reason automation can only do things like freeways or backiing to docks. Automation cant handle city driving or an accident. When confronted with an accident the automation wont recognize it.

    Case in point
Tesla driver killed after smashing into truck had just enabled Autopilot – US crash watchdog The driver died when automation decapitated the driver and went 6 blocks beyond.

Dont worry, automation is still quite a ways off from replacing people

I said this in a similar post. Linehaul is where you'll see it first. Terminal to terminal. Close to the interstate.

Id take a self driving truck, then I could team drive with myself. Run my hours, then let the truck do its thing while Im off duty. Move more freight, make more $, lol.
