2008 truck minus 25k motor is around 105k. 2015 truck minus 32k motor is around 118k. The actual price of the rolling chassis is up around 13k in 7 years.
You didn't answer my question though. Show me a pre-emission truck for sale that is on par with a new rolling glider and I'll buy it today. I have looked far and wide, other than buying someone else junk, I don't see them. $35,000 for a truck WITH a rebuild? Sounds like a likely fish tale to me.....show me one right now worth buying, I'll get out my checkbook. And I disagree, they are desperately trying to build a better engine, just not doing very well. Used trucks for sale today with 500-600K have a "fresh rebuild" only 100K ago. Huh!?
The way I read Ranks frustration is there is no emission controls on gliders yet the prices marched up with the new trucks prices that they blamed on more expensive emission controls. I'm from the same province as Rank and two years ago a rolling glider 379 was already 140 grand. I'd probably fall down at the price today. I dont think rank was beating up on the guys that are buying gliders but i do think the companies are raking in the cash on them.
Fitzgerald OTE="rank, post: 4785326, member: 38931"]We bought that truck in 2001 a few months after it was built. It was ~$120K new. T660's were approx the same in '07. What do those trucks as gliders go for today? If it truly is near $145K CDN like I was told, then that is a rip off IMO.[/QUOTE] Fitzgerald you can get a w900 or 389 glider for that
Exactly my point Special-K. If I had to buy a new truck I would buy a glider. But not at these prices. .
Yes it's possible that it's all exchange. If Lyle's USD prices are correct in his post above, they are more reasonable.
I answered your question. I gave you my 359 as an example. If you think that's junk, then fine but it works for me. Some people need new. I'm not one of them. Call me a liar if you like. The seller provided receipts for new pistons, sleeves, cylinder head, bearings, nozzles, turbo, compressor. I replaced the rubber, CAC, rad, a wiper motor, A/C compressor, A/C line and some wiring. $35k and the seller drove it to my door. Compared to $145K for a roller. it's a no brainer. .
Time to put up Rogue. Get out your check book for this $55k truck ($38K USD)....unless you'd rather spend $100k more for a chassis only. http://www.kijiji.ca/v-heavy-trucks...or/1098869568?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true
I saw that truck at the petro pass in Hamilton last week Rank.I was surprised to see someone working for Samuel with a 359 lol.
