As a note, too many people think that going to a company that doesn't subscribe to DAC will eliminate what is on it. The prospective employer still has to get the past employment info, even if they have to pay for it. I can think of a few large carriers that charge for it. Swift was one of the first. The past employer can/will report the same thing whether it be by fax, mail, or phone.

    YES again.

Many years ago, I worked for NAVL (North American Van Ines), thier ComTrans division (company drivers, all other divisions were o/o's). Ok so during the first 7 years, NAVL shows up, with ALL pertinent information about me.

Ok, 8th year, DAC reports it is past 7th year, name only is listed as a former employer, and NO other information allowed.

Just a bit into that 8th year, NAVL name was dropped.

I worked for a company known as Air-Ride Inc, out of Ohio?, they went bankrupt. But was listed as an employer. I called DAC, told them they are NO longer in business, please remove Air-Ride Inc.

    GONE.

Wow they charge for this ? ...... Even tho this is a federal mandate and that's legal ? ,that don't seem right because it's a law not a money maker ,that would be like : DOT officer charged the company an inspection fee because it is a law the officer must do an inspection behind the scale house ......but heck i don't know

Well it usually stays on a drivers record longer than they care to be a trucker. Most quit within a year.

They don't have to take it off at 7 years. CFR requires past 10 years for CDL employment so they can keep it on for 10 years after termination.

Well, all I can attest to, any former employer(s) of mine are removed after 7 years. Now, maybe I should point out, that is the copy they send me. From there, I'd surmise (not assume) they removed it from the information any potential employer calls up on me. And as I stated in a previous posting, I have had an employer go out of business before the 7 years was up, and as such, I had them removed, so I know it can be done, at least was done, in the past. If there are ANY changes to this, then I am not aware of.
