I was let go yesterday from a local trash company (residential route). For wait for it.... Turning around in someones driveway beside their house which was basically an abandoned shop from what it looked like. The old man that lived beside it came out ripping me a new backside. I was very calm with him and said i apologize i was never aware that i couldnt turn around there and the only reason i did was because i was running late and it saved me driving uo the road another 2 miles to turn around. Well anyway i get back to the office and said they had to let me go. Im thinking of going back over the road and in a weird way i missed it. i have about 8mo otr experience and before i took the trash job i was accepted to drive for werner dedicated regional. I would personally have regional but i need to get back to work cause i personally cant sit at home and just waste away

Chances are that won't be in your dac. I just had a dac report sent to me that had no info on it. I've worked for roadway express and another small tanker company in new jersey over the last 12 years. I did see where the company I work for now inquired but there was nothing on my record.

It may or may not show up. If it DOES show up? It might say you had an accident or incident. That home owner can claim you tore up the concrete, asphalt, whatever, and how can the company defend itself? They cannot and may have to pay to have the ground repaired.

If you do get back on the road, I certainly do hope you never use private property ever again, all because you are running late, or miss your turn, or what ever else of an excuse you come up with.. You leave yourself and your company LIABLE for any and ALL damages, that someone else may have caused, and there just isn't any way to defend your actions from that.

You have no inherent rights to use someone else's property, no matter your excuses. To me, the company did right by firing you. Your actions make all of us look bad in the public's eye's.

Hey, it needed to be said. You violated private property. Who are you to do this, and think that it is ok?

I'm now glad you got fired. And if nothing shows up on a DAC, then I can assure you that something will be said when a phone call reference is made.

A professional driver, be it an 18 wheeler, mini van, taxi cab, straight truck, simply does not go onto private property.

After you being fired, I now wonder if the owner of the property IS claiming damages?

    If so, you are toasted.

And as for being a "Richard Cranium", so what. At least I still have my job, where I DO NOT go onto private property, and cause damages.

Again, a non-professional way of doing things, that made us all look bad. Thanks for the continued hatred of us drivers.

Wow now it's an argument. I don't see what he did wrong I've used private property many times in the past to get out of a situation. Whether it was a small truck or big truck. I guess I never had such a douchy property owner either. I think a firing for that was harsh. Maybe a warning letter or even a days suspension. But a firing was uncalled for.

You just didn't get caught, so you got lucky. Yes, the property owner may be an acehole, but hey, after all, it IS his property.

The guy got fired, so I am thinking that damages were assessed.

The company has NO WAY of defending itself against any claims. EVEN if all the concrete or asphalt was ALREADY all broken up, he "trespassed" on private property, and THIS caused any and ALL damages.

Fact remains, he did wrong, and got canned in the process. Firing was harsh you say? Then there has to be damages involved.

Too bad, he may not even qualify for unemployment now, as they will "investigate" his firing, and IF found at fault? He will NOT collect any unemployment.

Guess next time, going an extra mile or two will be "worth it".

Well tbh i never said i thought it was ok and ##### dorry. yeah i admit i made a mistake and it was a dirt road driveway and like i said before it looked like an old car garage. This whole "propert damage" you speak of was a couple of tire tracks which i assure u if there were property damage i would have knocked on the guys door so i wouldnt get leaving the scene of an accident. But to sit there and not even know the whole story and insulting my intelligence is just telling me yes you have your job but how do you go home and look at yourself in the mirror knowing how much of a heartless and careless ####### you really are.

Well "to be honest", accidents DO HAPPEN, and you created this for yourself.

I wish you well, but I do not see you getting a job anytime too soon. Hopefully the unemployment you "might get" will help you through the tough times ahead.
Dirt lot, paved lot, stone lot, whatever lot. The owner made such a fuss, there had to be damages, of some sort.

    Good luck.

    I'm done.
