Besides knowing how to read & How to use a road atlas w/tons of info in it IF you'll use it, same thing w/a gps. You have to know how to set it up, most don't. Just like your smart phone. Most people will never know how to use half of what it's got. Paper atlas are much better, don't worry about battery, signal or anything. They always work. 40+ yrs
It's a true advantage to learn the nation by using a map to get around. When I started always had a truckers big map book, got the glossy one after a few years. Using the GPS all the time now but always have the map experience still there. Used to write directions and draw maps of customer directions and backup plans in case I missed a turn.
A LOT of listings of HM restrictions, STILL have size & weight restrictions mostly for NE if people will read. Also info on weather in areas to call & listen, permit in & such
