How many have internet card from cell service?

Good tip. Youtube and similar sites are the main thing to avoid.

 

So really if I just use the internet for say forums and email and just looking around 5 Gig is good?

 

5 gig is plenty.

 

As long as you stay off youtube and other sites with flash video you should be fine. Other than big downloads, flash video is the biggest threat to your bandwidth there is. You view an hour a day, you are going to run through your 5 gigs pretty quick. Even online gaming like WoW isn't really that bad, as long as you aren't on it 12 hours a day. An hour of one of those games usually runs me about 15-20 megabytes, which is about the same a a 2 minute youtube clip. The rule of thumb for me is you get 180 megabytes a day, a little more if you get 4-5 days a month home time where you are't using it. Also, I still use Wi-Fi when I can.

If forums and email are your thing, stay with AT&T, but like I said before, use your existing phone to tether if possible instead of getting another device. That way you avoid the 2 year commitment. My Samsung flip phone tethers, and sometimes it's faster than my Sprint card.

 

I will talk to ATT and see about the tethering thing. That is what would be awesome instead of having to buy a card.

 

my t-mbl. phone has a built in aircard with unl. internet, dwl. movies, surfing. i can use as much as 100 gigs a month, same price.

 

Luvmyhubby.....my hubby used Alltel as well, for 3 months. They called one day and said we were connecting to too many "foreign" towers and were ending our contract. I asked her what she was talking about and she said while in Texas, on several occasions, we used towers by other companies and they could no longer offer us internet. In 2 weeks, we were without internet. Keep in mind, no one ever said a word to us when we purchased the air card that we could not hook to those towers, so therefor, we did not know we were connecting to them. They however did know that the air card was going to be used by a driver who could possibly be any where in the USA. At any rate, they screwed us over! The connection was terrible anyway so it is all for the best.

 

I've had Alltel's tethering service on my Blackberry for well over two years. Never a word said about foreign towers or too much bandwidth. However, I'd be cautious being that Alltel really is no more... Verizon got the biggest piece of the pie and AT&T got the rest. My bill still says Alltel on it... but probably not for long.

Friggin sucks! Just when I find a phone service that I like, and doesn't screw up my bill, along comes the ###### cellphone mafia and messes it all up.

 

AT$T does what I need,never close to my 5GB Limit

 

What about NetFlix? I have been thinking about getting the sprint deal, since that's who I have my blackberry through. I don't really care about Youtube or porn sites etc...But I do have Netflix and love it. Would one of those air cards work good enough to view movies or TV shows via NetFlix?
