I highly suggest drivers to stay away from a company that doesn't pay deadhead......

EVERY COMPANY DRIVER should be paued equally for all hub miles empty or loaded...especially seeing that most companies try to dictate the route, fuel stops etc. on any given trip. If they tell a driver where to run and how, then all miles should be paid.

If I get paid by the mile I expect to be paid for all miles, loaded or empty. If I were paid a percentage it would be different.

Think of it this way, if you take a good paying run knowing you won't get a back haul or will have to make a bit of a deadhead to get another load, you are getting a higher pay on that run but not giving your driver a higher CPM. So then there is no justification for shorting your drivers for miles that you aren't getting paid on.

Besides if you have almost no miles it won't hurt you to pay them and the drivers will be happier about it.

There's even less money in having a truck sit somewhere waiting for a load to be delivered to the truck.

Both statements make equal sense ..>.. NONE!

Most company drivers are paid equal rates on loaded and empty miles. Lease contracts are different, generally the lease operator gets a smaller amount for empty but authorized (dispatched) miles, however, with those lease agreements since the operator is paying for fuel, there should also be some agreement on FSC with regard to empty/deadhead miles.

Common sense would ask the question: What is the difference between a loaded trailer and an empty trailer? Less fuel consumption, yet no revenue to the truck. However, the operator is doing the same job description no matter what is contained in/on his trailer. Comparing weight of load...a fully loaded trailer of packing balls (styrofoam) weighs about 2300 pounds, a fully loaded trailer of canned goods can weigh 45,000 lbs. Is the drivers job or duties any different with 2000 pounds or 45,000 pounds? The answer would be no difference. So...why would the pay rate be different for a company driver loaded or empty? The job and it's duties are the same empty or loaded.

Really? That's all you got out of that? Think it through for a change....I'm surprised you have drivers!

I see....you move your drivers around on pretty planes!

Your drivers knew that going in. You pay them decent and don't keep them waiting. Unless you're having trouble keeping drivers there's no reason to change what works.
