How much can I save up as a 22 year old trucker if I live on the road?

I crunched the numbers for myself. At .35 a mile starting out and 2200 miles a week $770 gross $540 gross after %30 taxes. I can bank at least $350 a week so that's $16,800 at the end of the year minimum saved. I'm conservative with my numbers. I'm sure the 2nd half of the year after you get some experience they will start giving more miles over 3000 a week so my savings will go up.

 

If I ever own a trucking company it will be called screw you trucking, Inc... now I have no plan of ever starting a trucking company but just Incase that's Gona be the name

 

Not all companies start you out on low miles. I was hitting 3k a week my first month.

In the latest consensus, if you consider all the taxes you pay, not just those taken out of your check, the average American making more than 25,000 and less than 60,00 is paying between 38 and 42% of their total earnings in some form of tax.

I know a guy who did just what your thinking. After 8 yrs on the road he decided to ditch the plan of college. He bought a 76 acre farm for cash. Then completely remodeled the house and got a job driving local. He is now 33 yrs with a nice family making 50k a yr. living with no mortgage.

 

With no rent and utilities quite alot rent alone would be around $10,000 per year so thats a huge saving there it's just really hard living out of something so small though you need the space sometimes.

 

More then that when you count the extra utilities like cable and more money you spend on crap living at home. Yeah living out of a truck can get rough but some people have to sacrifice things for a short time to get what they want. I want to buy land to build a real small house on for me under 800 sq ft thats all i need. I will tough it out and live in a truck if it means i will get that. Working a regular day job paying rent would take me forever to reach that goal as a single guy. I'm 39 paying off a 30 year mortgage at 70 years old is not what i would want to do. I can build a small house for under 50k minus the cost of the land. So in 5 years or less i can have a house and property i own no payments.
