Is there a book written by a fellow trucker you'd recommend about everything I need to know as an owner operator?

I think you would need an 840 Credit Score and a Brother in law in the Finance Department with the scruples of Hunter Biden. Lol.

First time OO.... as in several years as a Company Driver? Or... Fresh our of CDL School with an unobtainable dream? Scenario #1 yes. With the proper assets and credit score. Scenario #2...... Refer to my wise #### comment at the beginning if my response.

Check out OOIDA. Also Kevin Rutherford has some pretty solid info.

My previous post was meant to be funny, but it seems most missed that.

I'm currently pre planning to become an Owner Operator after 25 years of experience, 830 Credit score, $40k down on a new truck with an additional emergency reserve of $50k (hopefully not necessary to touch but always good to know its there just in case).

After driving for so and previously being an Own Op back in the mid 1990's I've learned that Experience is what matters in the trucking business and having a strong mindset towards the trucking business it self. The load boards are there & brokers need loads to move.

Sounds like a great plan. Being relatively new to the industry myself at a bit over 2 years exp. might make it difficult for me to finance 100k+. considering that I have yet to be a homeowner, regardless of having 40% down. I haven't found someone in a similar situation to give me insight however and when trucks become more available I'll try to get with a dealership and see if they look at me at all or without a ridiculous interest rate.
