If you aren't supplied one get a fridge and a way to cook , crockpot or whatever..you'll be healthier..stock up when heading out and hit a grocery while OTR..cheaper and better for you stay away from trk stp junk and the buffett's...there is a reason I don't eat buffett's..your company should pay tolls and you'll probably use certain fuel stops get rewards cards for all of em..that'll take care of you showers..do not forget shower shoes..lol..i use to stay out so long I'd have to take a 34 on the road I kept a little habachi type grill.. park in the back throw some chicken on it .. eat right and rest right you'll be fine..oh I don't drink much coffee but its gettin costly in the trk stp's..I aint ever spent much OTR but every now and then treat yourself to a good sit down veggie meal ..still some good old school trk stp's with real food you'll find em....be a courteous driver and guys'll help you out..good luck and be safe...

Showers are free with fuel. Company pays tolls and truck washes. All you need to pay for out of pocket really is food and drinks. That can be $50 a day or $5 a day depending on what you want to eat. Some guys like to cook and save money. Me personally I don't. After driving 11hrs and spending another couple hours loading etc I don't want to jack with making a meal so I eat in a restraunt. Sure it costs more but I don't care. If I am not making enough money to afford meals I am doing something wrong.

I am not OTR, but plan to be very soon so have been doing lots of research (snooping on here mostly) to see what daily expenses would be. As mentioned, buy food from places like Walmart and you could easily be well under $20 a day. Even if you were to have the occasional fast food subway etc you could still do it. I think the key will be how much you are willing to stick to a set budget.

I know some people where they don't consider it a proper dinner unless it is in a sit down restaurant with a 3 course meal whereas I would be fine with a couple of tuna salad sandwiches washed down with some Crystal Light. Not everyday mind you, but I am not above making the sacrifice to stay within a set budget. I was watching youtube where one OTR trucker spent over $900 on food in one month. Yes, really, $900 American dollars. That was down to buying fast food for every meal and a considerable amount of snacks and drinks etc.

Other daily expenses would be what you required for entertainment such as a Netflix or sirriusXM subscriptions etc and personal needs such as toiletries, but those can be bought cheaply or in relative bulk so as not to affect the daily expense total too much. Also factor in a cell phone plan with a healthy amount of data if you don't already have one.

Besides that, showers are free when you buy fuel and pretty much all truck expenses will be reimbursed so by my reckoning I expect to be less than $15 a day unless the pay checks are such that I choose to treat myself on occasion.

My biggest expense was food and I tried to keep it under $10 per day, one way or the other. Often times I would only have one meal a day. I ate lots of bread, peanut butter and bananas from WalMart. As a treat, I would often hit a Petro or T/A salad bar, but as of late they don't really appeal to me. If you care about what you eat, it is a hard job to do if you are OTR. The bad eating alone probably decreases your life span.

That's him. I watch lots of trucking videos so his pops up on the sidebar sometimes. He drives for Knight which is one of the companies I am interested in so I watch his occasionally. Some of them are amusing and others are cringe worthy. He had one where he spent about 15 minutes trying to figure out how to change a headlight bulb.

I don't know what was worse though, him trying to change it or me sitting there watching the whole ordeal.

Yeah i watch him a lot matter fact just saw the latest video of him throwing hundred dollar bills around lol. He is 22 so most of that stuff can be blamed on his age. He seems somewhat intelligent though but comes off the rails at times but again he is only 22. Fun to watch though.
