Actually, the rules are different for fleets vs a one truck operation. One truck, you are OK til next year with any truck.

You guys are right. I shouldn't have posted that unless I had links to back it up. The only only Info I was found was dated 2011, so I was incorrect about the time period. Going Senile in My old age, I guess.

Ports are a "private entity" leased to and operated by the local municipality and can put whatever rules in place they wish. Of course we all know out here they are in bed with the State and the unions so it's really a huge pay to play scheme but it is what it it is....interstate commerce is another story.

IT'S ALL ABOUT SOCAL, THAT'S WHAT THEY CARE ABOUT!!!

That WebEX was joke....that moron didn't even know about the small fleet push back till 2014. I asked him so what now for me.....I live here so you're telling me I can't come home???? He had no answer other than to tell me my 2001 motor was already out of compliance (WRONG) and I'm taking a chance getting caught. I told him SoCal has had bad air since 1950 and evidently they aren't doing such a bang up job so what makes him think this is gonna make any difference at all.......how is it gonna help the State to drive more people out of business or force them to move out or to deny choices of service to in state customers ....then I asked him if he flunked geography in high school....WHY DO YOU THINK IT'S CALLED THE "L.A. BASIN" AND WHICH WAY DO THE PREVAILING WINDS BLOW????.......I could just sense his lip quivering right through the phone.....frikin' govt. hack moron reading from a script is all he was. I told him the study he was parroting wasn't worth the paper it was printed on, he was all wrong about retrofitted trucks not running hotter, or no real effect on fuel milage, minimal cost increases or downtime, when I gave him real world info. from reliable people I know running these things he had nothing to say.......LOL, when I got done with him you coulda heard a pin drop in that room wherever the call was coming from......useless jerks wasting my time, I know more about this stuff than CARB does.....they're even worse than the IRS when it comes to knowing their own regs. All he could do was become indignant and scold me for knowing this has been coming for years now and not complying is no excuse........screw him and the horse he rode in on. :biggrin_25510:

He was denied entry into the PORT. The PORT is not regulated by CARB the PORT is regulated by the PORT Authority.

If you are caught by CARB they claim you will be issued a $300 fine and a 24 hour pass to get out of the state on your fist offense, second offense is a bigger fine and a tow truck needs to take you to the border if you are an out of state company.

All of this is of course pure speculation as CARB has not yet issued a single fine for having a non compliant engine in an OTR truck.

Read that again very carefully before you chime in with "my buddy had his TRU ticketed", or "I know a guy who got a ticket for idling"...

NOBODY HAS BEEN CITED FOR HAVING AN ENGINE OUT OF COMPLIANCE ON THEIR TRUCK.
California based companies have been getting fines for years if they dont do PSIP.
Reefer owners have been issued citations for years for having a TRU out of compliance.
Everyone has been getting tickets for idling your truck engine if its not Clean Air Certified.

NOBODY HAS EVER been cited for their truck engine being too old while driving down the road even though half the trucks on the road in California are out of compliance.

I have a 2002 CAT engine. It is still carb compliant because I registered it with CARB. So it is legal thru the end of 2013. I was runnuing CA every load, but not now. So this truck may never see CA again. By registering, I got this one year extension.

I just looked at the CARB website..

CARB can fine you $300-$10000 per vehicle per day plus any late fees.
CARB can request that the CHP remove your vehicle from service.
A lien may be placed against your property for fines.

I didn't read it all. This was more than enough for me.
If you run out there in a noncompliant truck, good luck. I look forward to your stories.
