Thank you, your feedback is really helpful. How long have you been in the business?

Find a company that will hire you.

Due to your crummy location, few choices are available.

Make sure the company you want to work for accepts the schooling you're getting.

I went straight into Refr and after graduating to a First Seat driver I averaged $750 a week, take home.

That's about what I was making.

Rene if money is your priority look for a small company that would hire a new driver. In Miami I am sure there are plenty of produce haulin Ma n Pas. You won't pull in a grand a week at the likes of Werner, US Express or Swift.

I made $800 - $1200 per week as a newbie due to detention and stop off pays for almost every load. I see a lot of topics here from guys talking about crap companies that everyone knows about like Swift, Werner, CR England, JB Hunt, Schneider, etc. There are way better options out there.

There are two critical factors during your first year:

First: Do not worry or complain about the money or the miles; you are developing a work ethic and reputation. Make your deliveries on time and put up with the "stuff" that comes your way - and there WILL be "stuff" coming your way. The money will come.

Second: Stay 12 FULL months with one company; failing to do so will not work to your benefit or help your income.

If after 6 months you haven't made at least $20,000 start looking for somewhere else. If something better came along before you put in a year I might consider changing but I'd be 100% sure that I was gonna be with the new company for a year or two at least.
