Aren't all current CAT on-road flash files low NOx files now?

    Oxbow Thanks this.

That is just for the ACERT engines isn't it? I asked my Cat guy about the uprate and whether or not it would be a low nox file and I believe he told me that there is no low nox file for a 6NZ. Does that sound right?

    SAR Thanks this.

All ACERT are low NOx files. Pre 99ish engines had the good non Low NOx files if memory serves me correct. Low NOx was all about EPA slap down/penalty of engine manufacturers cheating on EPA 98 emissions.

    SAR and Oxbow Thank this.

    Correct.

Lownox was early files . Even some the very first 6nz files are better then later ones. So basically all 6nz and up are lownox.

This is why the first 550 5ek engines pulled so well. Had the sought after programs

The truck is a 10 wheel dump truck right now set a 475, which is way more than enough. We may however convert it to a lowboy tractor, and at that point I would be interested in uprating to 550.

Can Cat install the old files or are they required to install the newest available (low nox)?

    SAR Thanks this.

Required to install latest. You could get a better flash cheaper than dealer.

    SAR and Oxbow Thank this.

There are two ranges for 6NZs, serial number range 1-53999 are one set of files 54000 and up use another set and yes the 1- 539999 range files do seem to be better, same applies for 7CZ C16s, 0-02799 are one set and 2800 up are another set of files.

    spsauerland and swaan Thank this.
