    It’s kinda tough.

You’ll need to find a company that has applied for work visas to allow you to legally enter and obtain a SSN.

The visa may be a H2B - and they’re only short term.

Guy I know applied for citizenship on work based visas - took him 12 years to get citizenship.

And with the surplus of drivers we have, I can't get how any one can get a visa to work in this industry.

But that said .... I wish you luck.

You can get a job for 12 cpm very easily here. Just start applying to companies like CR England, Swift and others like them and you will be here starving to death in a heartbeat.

You might want to look very carefully at international CDL's versus our American CDL systems. I already know you will not touch anything Hazmat for example. You may find that you will surrender your CDL from overseas and take one of our own. And if you returned home have to go through it all over again potentially.

In short, coming here to do trucking is not worth it. What you CAN and should do is find a RV and travel our land to enjoy all the things we have to offer.

Finally but not last, your European Cabovers are pretty nice. Particularly the Mans but once you get ahold of say a KW or Pete here in the States you will be spoiled very badly.

Well........ no. Mind you, I have done what you want to do. Best thing I ever did. While there are similarities between the Netherlands and the US (both Western democracies, for the most part), they are NOT similar. Physically, the county I went to high school in the US is half the size of The Netherlands. It has less than 30,000 people. It is NOT similar! Last week our overnight temperature was -5 F (-20 C), and we all went to work without thinking it was special. It is NOT the same. Here, your boss doesn't like you, you are frog-marched out the door, the end. No guarantees you have a job tomorrow, let alone next year. It is NOT the same!!!!!!

Now, to answer your question, best thing to do is to apply for the Green Card lottery, both you and your wife. Coming from The Netherlands, the odds aren't even too terrible (about 1 in 25). You can try to come in on an H2B visa, but those are also highly, highly competitive, and not cheap or easy to apply for. Another is to apply for an "investor visa", if you have a cool half million to invest and create 10 jobs (250K in an undeveloped area), but even THAT program is grossly over subscribed.

I know people that have built significant businesses without proper papers, but getting caught means losing everything you've built up, and who wants that kind of pressure in their life.

But, our trucks DO look much better.......

Canada is an option too. Canadian drivers are allowed to truck in the US.
