I've said it a hundred times on this forum.....knowledge is power. Drivers need to know the ins and outs of this business. I've argued many a time with forklift jocks on how to load my trailer. This comes with experience which you gain after years of doing this. Yes, some forklift jocks DO know their stuff and if you let them load the first couple pallets without saying anything, you can tell if they know their business. OR, ask them what the product is, how many pallets and what's the total weight, followed by their suggestion on how to load it. You can also get a general consensus on how this warehouse operates if you look around and see leaning pallets, shrink wrap that needs to be done again etc. I love it when I walk onto the dock and my product is staged right there at my door and I can see what I'm getting and the condition of each pallet BEFORE he starts to load me.

Heaviest product I hauled was maple syrup. 45.5K and only only four feet tall.

load of 10 forklift batteries. all of 45,000 lbs they weighted about 4500 each. 6 singles, 4 doubles. Had to put the tandems all the way forward and we had it legal on all three axles.

    Stood 2 feet tall .

Sometimes an experienced driver can tell if their load is heavy even after looking at an incorrect BOL. This would definatley be a RED FLAG to scale your load. Pay attention on how your truck is pulling. Other loads still may need to be scaled just to find your axle weight as well.

That's like the steel coil loads. Usually 11 pallets with a total weight of 43-45k.

If you've ever seen an electric forklift, you've seen these batteries. They are the ones under the operater seat that takes up the entire vehicle.

Yep I hauled a load of the electric Jack batteries. Those were about 750 pounds each.

The electric jack batteries are about 1/4 the size of a fork lift battery.
