How to determine by the weight on the BOL if you need to slide tandems or 5th wheel

    General rule of thumb... 1000 lbs per foot of trailer. Up to 44,000 lbs.

    Yea, that's my method. I weighed a load back a couple months ago and noted that the drive tandems were 33,800 and my psi was 58 lbs. So as long as I know I am under on the gross, I am reasonably confident I am legal if I don't go above that 58 lbs on my drive air bags. I just have never had the experience of the BOL being THAT far off!
