OP will probably have to take a medical LOA and when he is ready to come back to work you'll likely have to take a bus to whatever terminal you run out of.You won't be able to keep trk that long. Can't make money if the wheels aren't turning.Your. DM will probably want you to clean trk out and you'll be assigned another trk when you return.

Wait if they have a terminal there- do they also have a hotel there? Can I stay in their hotel?

Odds are good they'll take the truck. That amount of time not rolling while you're in recovery - truck isn't making money.

If they do have a hotel I'd wager it'll be (mostly, if not fully) at your own expense.

Since this is an elective surgery, and not necessary for your survival, you're probably going to have to pony-up more than you seem to want to.

    Luck.

I'd think if it's some what covered on insurence that it wouldn't be considered elective... Will they at least let it sit for a week?

You have to plan it all out. On your home time before the surgery you take all the extra stuff out and plan on running with just the basics. Clothes and I would get s cheap sleeping bag and pillow.

Sometimes thing are more important then a truck. You could try just saving more money up then just plan on taking all the recovery time off from work. One thing about trucking is most companies don't care how much time you take off as long as they have their truck back and rolling. So you can take the time off clean out your truck do the surgery. Then when you ready call them back up and the will give you another truck and your back driving. Unless you really sure you can drive after surgery. Plus you can't drive and be taking any pain pills if they give any for recovery after surgery.

If you take time off from work make sure you still have insurance or paying for it

Any surgery regardless of cause, youa re given a certain amount of time to heal that incision and make it strong. For example if Appendix taken out you are told to do nothing for 6 weeks to give that incision every chance to heal and get strong. I was working again in three unloading trailers at hunts point.

We have someone here whose sternum (Your chest bone) has been split open, those need a year to knit together. And if you go back to work too soon, you might experience pernament disability when that thing fails to fuse.
