If someone goes north from denver you get off at Fort collins Colorado and take 287 to Laramie Wy. Then you can take 80 over elk mountain or US30 around elk mountain back onto 80 west. If you know what day you will be driving across elk mountain or Eisenhower tunnel you can look up the weather forcast for that day.

I've only taken 287 once. I don't think you save that much time not to mention you have to go through the Point of Entry.

I suspect that the population of Wyoming will be increasing because of people leaving Colorado.

I have ran that exact route several times before... This time of year I would NOT recommend it... As US40 is off in the boonies and get up pretty high into the mountains where snow could be an issue.

Were it me I would consider going North from Denver on I-25 to Fort Collins, then US287 to Laramie, US30 to Walcot Junction, then I-80 to I-84, to I-15... Then north to Tremonton.

It looks ALOT worse on google maps than it is in person... But it is indeed a route I avoid in the winter... In the dry months of the year it is a good route.

The point of ru,ning 287 isnt to save time... Its to avoid sone of the really bad wind locations along I-25 and I-80.

    JC1971 and Qbf594 Thank this.
