No, if she is clear down on 70 she would be better off going farther south than to go clear north to US26... Albeit, I wouldn't do either... Id probably stay on 70... Or...

If it was summer time I would tell her to run the exact route she askd about in the OP... It's a beautiful drive in dry weather... But this time of year it can be pretty gnarly.

I like 287 do e it a few times...but it puts me on 80 with slick plus high winds notes. Which makes me queasy....
Is 30 any better? It doesn't seem logical that it would be too much different..?

30 is usually better than 80 for wind speeds, you can thank Lady Bird for the piss poor decision of where 80 is instead of it being where 30 is.

That's an urban legend. I-80 is 20 miles shorter which saved money to build it.

If you are going to be running WY you really need this Website (see link) iy is more accurate and updated continuously.

    WYDOT Travel Information Service (Cheyenne)

You can click on the map at the top to change which district is displayed... Also the small blue icons for cameras and weather sensors can be clicked on to display vital info about road conditions and wind speeds.

Didn't know that. I figured it would be the same. I'll have to remember that next time. I avoided it because I didn't like the drive through Fort Collins.
