Here's a new and radical idea . Its called trip planning . Plan so you have time to move from the customer to a truck stop or other place you won't be hassled when you shut down either for a 10 or 34 reset .
And if your stuck at a grocery dc or similar cesspool as your clock and your trip plan goes up in smoke adjust your trip plan and drive to where you planned anyway . Before your QC switches off the drive line write "safe haven" in the comments when you get there .
If an office REMF challenges your log "violation " remind it the customer doesn't allow sleepovers on their property, that you operated within Federal regulations and they should drive their own ####ing truck .pumpkinhead Thanks this. -
First Why would you take a 34 at Walmart or Costco?
You cant move without them knowing it work off the odometer & shows GPS of each stop so call but if you haven't approve your log you can adjust a few of you "On-Duty-Not-Driving" to Off-Duty" that give you back some time on your 70 don't do too much in a 24 period because if you get a DOT stop it might go bad for you.
Go to the Hours Of Service then Hit the "Approve" Tab Look for The less noticeable ones Highlight it the Hit "Edit" in the lower right corner be careful not to hit ApproveLast edited: Jan 3, 2016

If you want to you can use the officer email function on your QC to email yourself a copy of what an officer would get. It's enlightening. -

Of all the ways to beat the system, the best is...
Don't even try.
Just stay legal and plan your trips correctly.
Heck, if I am at a shipper/receiver so long that my time is about to expire - and I know they won't let me take my break there - I leave and go someplace that will.
The load can be rescheduled for all I care, and they can pay detention pay for the time I waited.
And once I start my 10, it will NOT be interrupted for me to pull in or out while off duty. -
Moosetek13 I did my last six month deployment on the Constellation. We left Hawaii on the way to San Deigo for last leg of the cruise. Tigers were on board. Then 911 happened. I responded on this thread since other one got locked.

The rules are made to prevent gross violations.
Being stuck at receiver, shipper, and driving 30 minutes to truckstop, may result in a violation, but I highly doubt youd receive a ticket, unless they find other gross violations,or an attitude problem. -
My time there was many years ago, in the 80's.
After flunking out of boot because of my knees (after scoring 97 and on my way to Advanced Electronics) it was a real thrill to live the life a bit.
Boot was a hoot in some ways. I snagged an assistant squad leader position, which gave me all the perks of admin with none of the drawbacks.
What was your job there?Evomalo Thanks this.
