    Could be maybe Schneider is trying to stop hiring all the dead beats, as most of the big companies have a bad rap for their hiring practices.. Or with the cost of fuel their trying to trim their fleet instead of expanding..

    Loads going through - whether straight through or drop and swap - aren't going to be much of a help. Sure, they could route you there with your load and have somebody else grab it - but what's going to happen to HIS load while you spend time at home? Yup. 'Tis going to sit. That's going to cost them money - and won't be considered.

    You need regular loads originating or terminating within their arbitrarily defined comfort zone. If they don't have any in NM, they'll reasonably say they can't deal with you.

    Other companies are the same. All kinds of loads go through Cheyenne, WY, for instance. But the number of companies that will hire from there is quite a bit smaller than the number who will hire from, say, Denver - only 90 miles away.
