A friend of mine is having a tripac installed tomorrow. He said he hopes it will reduce his costs. It will cost about 8500.

Why not just go to a Walmart and get a below zero sleeping bag? Then you wouldn't need to worry about heating while your asleep! I keep 2 in the truck for 'just in case'.
-
I do too. But the problem is, when it is on the low side of zero, it is cold in the truck. You have to get out of the bag sometime. -

LOL yeah, ya got a point there. Weeell, I guess you could sleep up close to the front and kinda just reach up and start the van about 10 minutes before ya get up! yeah? lol -
Look up PonyPack, $7000 and my neighbor and I can install it. -
He bought it already. I found out yesterday. -

Thank you guys for the good info. I am going to look into a Camper Furnace 16000 BTU's as used in Van Conversions or as an alternate, a 2000 watt gas generator and an 1500 watt/750 watt electric heater. I may get a Portable Buddy(Mr. Heater) also for short stops but not for sleeping.

After you get this thing installed, sleeping around it will be no problem IF you get a carbon monoxide detector and keep it in the cab with you. CO detectors should be mandatory equipment in trucks.
-
Maybe it's just me, but I've had enough people telling me what should be mandatory. A mandatory 10 hour break, a mandatory half-hour break, a mandatory 15-minutes on-duty when I get to a customer... the list goes on and on. Would it be a good idea to have one? Yes. Should Uncle Sam be the one to make me have a carbon monoxide detector? I don't see it as being his place.
