Yes.
Fondly.
Although it was no posted speed limit and it was up to the trooper and you could still get a ticket...

Apparently, most of Colorado is suppose to get hammered Monday. 6-8 on the front range, 10-14 in the high country. Might be one of "those" winters. By gar, it's been a while,,

3 hours instead of 9 across PA or Chicago by dinner or atlanta by dark etc. Crazy. And it really didnt matter a whit you did not make any more money or ran more loads faster. Fuel mileage was non existent. The brakes were huge and reliable for it's time. Managed to smoke them a couple of times though.
The yelling and all that I received that one day when the shop finally captured it long enough to look at the ECM was epic. I was told I had three options and 10 minutes to pick. None of them were any good. I left the company which itself imploded a few months later. Too many drivers were hitting bridges etc. Which turned out in that time a early wave of immigrants coming to America to learn trucking because they could not get into anything else yet like they can today.
Just leave you a thought. When you think you are fast making time, there is always a few out there that are way faster. And you will meet them. But in the end the payroll is still the same.Upinsmoke Thanks this. -

As far as DOT troopers go he knew his stuff. Really dangerous OOS potential that morning.
He did me a favor though. Told me after I get unloaded up there, not to come down past the line because hes on the lookout for me for 12 more hours. I told him dont worry, there is a truckstop not far from there. Spend two days pigging on the food 4 meals a day and laying around sleeping. That was a great rest because that was a hard week of so many miles. around 3600 or so actual.
He knew i should be OOS that morning. And he would be right. But he could not prove it. WHEW....Upinsmoke Thanks this.
