I find the biggest danger in winter driving is not the weather and road conditions. It's the drivers who share the road with you that are the real hazard.

With all the "respect the hill" comments, I'm surprised no one posted this...

And yes....ABSOLUTELY 'respect the hill'. Don't assume that because its dry and 60 at the bottom, that its anything like that on the top. I've had the temp drop by nearly 30 degrees and start snowing on me by the time I got to the top. Buddy, I was white knuckled the whole way. I ran It many, many times...all winter long last winter. It can be a fun ride when its nice out, when its not....you are in for a tense ride.

Oh, oh, and try not to let the truck pick up too much speed on that last little bit, where you can see your 'done' WB, cus there is usually a cop at the bottom.

I've had days on Cabbage where it was 46 degrees on top, and a foggy/icy 21 degrees at the bottom (Pendleton side). Cabbage can throw anyone a curveball.

Man I've driven so many hills and mountain passes. I've delivered from Iowa to Anchorage twice in winter, but Cabbage Hill scares the absolute #### out of me. Today I went through there headed east. I'd only ever gone west, twice, in January. It was so much easier today. That being said, I don't plan to drive this thing again any time soon. I trust myself completely, but I don't trust careless drivers who don't consider the people around them.

Aw come on now. When you run Cabbage enough you get to love it.

It will kill people who come down too fast or come up in too much of a hurry.
