American Central Transport (ACT) has a program called Re-ACTivate that is for drivers with previous experience but has been out of the business for a while. They are a relatively small company, 300 trucks, and have been good to me. They have both company driver and lease purchase positions. I would suggest being a company driver for a while before you even consider leasing. It might be worth a call.

Fact is, you have a cdl, they need a driver, and you need a job. I think you should call CRE back and ask to speak to the director of operations. Tell him you're sorry for whatever the misunderstanding was, and ask him to get you on with a trainer. Just know, that it will be rough because it sounds like you're kind of starting over..you know? One's perception leaves after about a few months of inactivity in a cmv on the road. But you will "be back" on the field.....

I would also do a free DAC report and see whats on it as England is a big lover of that BFI!

BUT get the DAC report and if it has some BULL CRAPOLA that that BFI England usually does to non Mormons then get a copy of the rebuttal form and send a copy of the dentists report about the tooth with your filled out form and wait for about 30 days for the reply from DAC actually Hire Right with the results. Be sure to use names of every CRE office person that screwed with you on that DAC and your phone interview with a new hopeful.

You can also check with the oil fields in TX or the Dakotas as they are hiring and when winter hits in the Dakotas a lot of fair weather drivers will be heading south till the summer thaw!

Wow, I fell asleep and 4 pages of replies and advice, I appreciate it. It's 2:00 am and I can't sleep because I still don't have a job because its bothering me :(.

I filled out an online application that went to multiple companies last night, hopefully as they call me ill just explain my situation and see if one won't take me. Ill pretty much go with anyone who will hire me right now.

When I got back in the truck it all came right back to me. The shifting, the turning. People in school even remarked and asked why I was there. :biggrin_2551:

But that danged recent experience is got me good right now.

If I were you I would look at some local dump truck companies. That's how I got my start. Screw that OTR stuff. You have a family and I doubt you want to be away from them. Make yourself a resume and shoot it to every local trucking company you can find. Someone will take a chance on you! They did me! You might not make great money and you might have to drive a ratty truck for a while, but who cares. It's a start and it will get better. Good luck!

Lots of great advice here. By the sound of it, Swift may not be the "worst case." There is no love lost between Swift and CRE. We have terminals in Gary, IN and Manteno, IL. We have a drop yard in East St. Louis and another terminal in Memphis, TN. You are well covered for terminals.

However, if you find the Swift name as distasteful as some of the others here apparently do, you might check into Swift's sister company, Central Refrigerated. I haven't heard many complaints about it.

Something will shake out for you. CRE is not the end of your career. Just be very careful if you choose a mom n pop. Do your research and be very selective. Some mom n pops can be every bit as deceptive and backstabbing, if not more so, than the big players. I hear time and again how an O/O or three truck operation never seems to have enough money to keep their equipment maintained or pay the entire wage due. Ran into that myself. Of course, the people are so nice you just feel bad about asking for your money.

Best advice is apply everywhere. You have your CDL and CRE can't take it away from you. You may have to go out with a trainer, but that's just part of the game. Good luck to you.

CRE has all the wannabes they need . They have his training money . Now they can replace him with someone else and get their money .
The others are right . He is better off away from CRE

You have 2 bee proactive not reactive if you let cr determine

What lengths you will goto for employement if they hit your dac

You will the one who suffers you gotta get on a 1st. Name basis with

People much more effective its a sign of eager, willing go getter types

    Not the can't do types

There are people out there that can make things happen for you. There is a way around everything, even the insurance companies, PSP and CVSA. Forget about the bottom feeding scum companies. Put an ad on Craigslist and on the Truck Paper, show your qualifications in it, and watch the replies flow in. Sift through them VERY carefully, don't send ANY personal info over the net as you will be asked to do, and beware of foreign accents. Check out your potential employer on the SafeStat website and take it from there.
