No it isn't the same. States can not deny you the ability to travel through. They can only specify how you transport your weapon. Read some laws and educate yourself on hand gun transport laws.

Right. This is called the Firearm Owners’ Protection Act.

This is why anyone that chooses to carry a firearm has a duty to become proficient with that firearm, and be aware of his responsibility for that path of every round he discharges, much like a police officer.

    Might want to read this...
Ready, Fire, Aim: The Science Behind Police Shooting Bystanders | TIME.com

    Here is the relevant paragraph:
According to a 2008 RAND Corporation study evaluating the New York Police Department’s firearm training, between 1998 and 2006, the average hit rate during gunfights was just 18 percent. When suspects did not return fire, police officers hit their targets 30 percent of the time.

Now, if a New Your City cop who is highly trained in using their firearm can only hit the intended target 18-30 percent of the time what chance someone who can only train once every few weekends will be better? Now where do you think the other 70 to 82% of the bullets end up at?

Yep. commonly referenced as FOPA. However if failed in one thing. Transportation procedures should be common through out the lower 48. But allowing states to set their own procedures for transportation it opens the door for a lot of mistakes by guys trying to obey the law. law makers failed big time in that aspect.

While i have taken great steps to ensure that im just as highly trained as the average street cop, in all practicality i cant get as much range time so i won't be as accurate. However even if I'm only half as accurate thats still 9 to 15% change of hitting the guy trying to kill me. With no firearm i have zero chance. Ill take 9 to 15% over zero anyday of the week and twice on sundays.

Do a search for "negligence claims from third party of workplace violence", respondeat superior, or look at all the employers sued for the actions of their employees - even if company policy specifically prohibits that action.

You forgot to mention, transport means passing through, no stopping. Stop even to take a leak and your qualifying interstate transit just ended.

Then just when you think there's no probable cause to search, the police will figure something out. You should hear about how the Childress TX police "discovered" guns and weed in Kevin Rutherford's RV. It's a hoot!

You can stop to take a leak. It allows for short stops. Food and fuel for example.

Edit: my Google was no help in finding record of that incident. Got a link?
