If I can't trust an adult who has a valid license to carry because I am afraid they may respond improperly and I get sued, I would never have put him in a truck of mine. The odds of a fatality collision (not accident as they don't exist) resulting in a lawsuit are far higher regardless of who is at fault. I will ALWAYS support the Constitutional rights of my employees.

 

It was the truck stop counter of course. Where else can one expect to get the correct answer 100% of the time?

In other words, you're just scared of something you think might happen with no actual evidence that it ever has happened, so as a result you end up placing more trust in the criminals you don't know over the employees you do know.

And yes, in some jurisdictions if you as a business owner disarm law-abiding citizens by posting a "no guns" sign, you accept liability for their safety while on your property. If a criminal does what criminals do and that disarmed licensee gets injured, you would be liable.

Hell, there are efforts in some states to not only hold you liable for disarming the law-abiding, but to INCREASE your liability for doing so!

Still afraid of that big bad law suit? It's coming either way. Which would you rather defend against? Family of a thug after your employee protects himself? Or the family of your employee after your employee is harmed by a thug?

You well know it's impossible to prove a negative, and by asking for proof of a negative you have already shown you have no interest in the debate. You simply want to justify you prefer your employees, err, sorry.. Independent contractors to get shot instead of the criminal attacking them.

Again, provide proof that an independent contractor working shot someone and that someone or his family sued the business owner he was working at. You can't have it both ways, they either work for you and thus increase your liability or they do not and you have no liability.

Make sure to do a through Federal Background check. This is a nationwide check, unlike your state only check. Than it is your decision as owner. Call a lawyer and ask questions to your liability to the gun issue. Though there are no federal laws against carrying a gun in a CMV, states have their own laws to such. With many states having concealed carry, with reciprocity states, but one must check the individual laws of each state.
